Frequently Asked Questions
You must join as a member but we have a free option where you can try scuseme for 1-month with no payment and no obligation. If after 1 month you want to join you must enter your card details and select a membership that suits you. We have three options, Matt, Satin and Gloss. As a member you can make an enquiry once you log into your scuseme account with an email address and password which is emailed to you when you first register. scuseme will direct your enquiry to the tradespeople you have selected. They will contact you and arrange to meet, quote and start your job.
Scuseme is not a directory of listed businesses and services. We do not share the contact details of our tradespeople. Instead we have learnt from experience that is better to share your number so they can call you to discuss your job when they can give you time.
Only if you join one of our memberships. Matt Membership £15 per year, Satin Membership £25 per year and Gloss Membership £40 per year. The charge guarantees a credible customer service and other benefits unique to each Membership level. Payment is taken via our secure payment partner, Stripe. scuseme does not handle your payment.
The vast majority of our businesses pay but we do take on a few that do not. This is because there are some occasions where we prefer to offer a community service. For our bespoke service, we will often have to source our wider network of tradespeople and home services to find the right business that meets your needs. Getting the right service to you is our priority.
We rely on the recommendations of people in the local area who have used these businesses and are very satisfied with their work. We demand that our suppliers share these recommendations on their profile. It’s always a good ideal to ask to speak to their previous clients and if possible inspect their work.
Scuseme feedback is your most valuable tool in determining trustworthiness. We use a star rating system with 1 being poor through to 5 representing an excellent service. We encourage you to add your own reviews.

During the application process we discuss experience, track record, certificates and recommendations, then all our suppliers have to agree to our Terms and Conditions. We get copies of relevant certificates and check drivers licenses and/or birth certificates. It’s always a good idea to check with the supplier when they come round, and ask to see their current membership cards for total peace of mind.
When you have used one of our recommended suppliers, their details will appear in your account. You will then be able to ‘add a review’.
The contract or work you do with your Supplier is a separate contract which does not involve scuseme. Our suppliers rely on their reputations and we make every effort to ensure that Suppliers listed on our website are legitimate, reputable and have appropriate qualifications and membership of trade related bodies. You have the right to post ratings based on your experience. Should you leave negative feedback we will contact all parties to establish if a rating is justified.
Yes, with our Primer Trial you can use scuseme for free. You get all benefits of the Matt Membership. You will be asked to enter your card details and £15 will be held for 28 days. If you decide to join as a Matt member £15 will be deposited from your account 28 days later. Alternatively you can upgrade to Satin or Gloss, or you can cancel with no charge. You will be sent reminders along the way.
